Abstract

By calculating the correlation coefficient, we will present how, and whether at all, compliance with the monetary policy of the European Union, i.e. the application of the Maastricht convergence criteria, leads to economic growth in the member states of the Union. At the very end of the paper, a brief review will be made of the position of the Republic of Serbia in relation to European countries, when it comes to fulfilling the economic criteria required for accession to the Union, in accordance with the fact that Serbia is on the path to membership.
