Modern social development is characterized by intensive technological, economic, and social changes which, in addition to numerous benefits, are creating increasingly strong pressures on the environment and natural resources. Accelerated industrialization, globalization, and growing consumption have led to increased emissions of harmful gases, ecosystem degradation, and climate change, making the preservation of natural capital one of the key issues of sustainable development. The paper examines possibilities for improving the existing natural resource management system through the development of a modern accounting and information system and the redefinition of the role of the state, businesses, and other participants in the economic system. Particular attention is given to the concept of including natural capital, specifically oxygen as an existentially important resource, in the process of economic valuation and reproduction, with the aim of improving environmental protection and ensuring more rational use of limited resources. It is concluded that the integration of sustainability accounting, more transparent public financial management, and modern institutional solutions can contribute to more efficient management of natural capital, environmental protection, and the achievement of long-term sustainable economic development.Downloads
